Internships

We currently are not able to take on additional interns for the Spring 2022 semester. Please check back at this webpage or email spc@peacecouncil.net as we get closer to the summer for information about Summer 2022 internships.

About interning with SPC

The Syracuse Peace Council (SPC) seeks interns who are enthusiastic and passionate about working to create a world of peace, freedom, equality, and social justice and who are motivated to take action to end military aggression, imperialism, and all forms of oppression. By interning at our office, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about important issues of the day as well as the basics of grassroots organizing from outreach to publicity to fundraising.

Interns at the Peace Council need to be self-starters, comfortable operating in a grassroots environment.  Interns work alongside SPC staff and non-staff activists/organizers to offer support and leadership in our organizing work.  Applicants seeking college internship credit should consult their institution for guidelines.

Supervision & Evaluation – Interns are supervised by the Peace Council staff person relating to their area of work. Evaluation of interns will be based on their level of responsibility in following through effectively on tasks, their ability to work cooperatively with others and where applicable, their role in the success of projects.

Time – Start dates, end date, and hours are flexible.  Some evenings and/or weekends may be preferred depending on the scheduling of events. Internships with SPC are unpaid. As a small grassroots organization, we unfortunately are unable to offer paid internships.

To learn more about SPC’s work, feel free to browse our website (committee webpages in particular: Beyond War and Militarism, Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation, Nuclear Free World, and Justice for Palestine), and check us out on social media: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Intern selection process includes an internship application, resume, two references, and a Zoom video interview. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until openings are filled.
